About Me

I began work as a social worker at Family Services of Chemung County in January 2008.The majority of my clinical work involved trauma, depression, anxiety and Serious Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) cases. I also developed and facilitated a Women's Anger Management Group and facilitated a Parents and Care Givers of Adolescent Sexual Offenders Support Group.

In 2011, I took the EDMR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) Basic Training and have attended many advanced courses, earning many Continuing Education Units in EMDR through the years. In the same year, I received my LCSW and immediately began working on my LCSW-R, which I earned in 2016.

In 2012, I moved to New Jersey and worked for Mount Carmel Guild, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark, where I worked with trauma, depression, anxiety, Bipolar disorder and ADHD. In 2013, I created and facilitated a women's issues group and an adolescent boys ADHD psycho-education group. I have been in private practice for more than six years.

I started my private practice part-time in March of 2013 and by October of 2013 I was practicing full time. Sue Simon LCSW LLC was founded in 2016. My LLC is registered in NJ and is also in the process of being registered as a foreign entity in Virginia.

Personal Life

Raised mostly in upstate New York, I have a strong faith in God and live most of my life according to my beliefs. I’ve been married for 31 years and am blessed with three adult children, two daughters-in-law, and a miniature Dachshund.

When not working, I like to read, write, do needle crafts, travel, take walks, enjoy nature, and watch crime TV. I also like to explore towns with my husband and go to New York City just to enjoy the city.
